Free Space Providers
As you have most likely noticed, there are dozens of sites giving away free web space now a days. Many, many, many people rely on them as hosts and they make a ton of money. We decided to explore several of the most popular and biggest ones in order to help you pick a host. Please remember, all of these services have strict content rules, and most of them have free and priced plans so make sure to sign up for the right service. Please relize these comments are simply our thoughts and experiences with the services, they are not ment to premote any one company over any other in any way. Also note that these companies do not way pay us for listing them.
Geocities: They offer 11mbs of web space, unlimited transfer, and some other goodies. They do not allow comercial sites and they use pop up banners along with a geocities link on every page. http://www.geocities.com
Angel Fire: They offer 5 mbs web space, unlimited transfer and some other goodies. They also have pop up windows for ads and no commercial sites are allowed. http://www.angelfire.com/
Tripod: They offer 10 mbs web space, and a variety of other programs. They too have pop up windows with ads for every page. No commercial sies are allowed. http://www.tripod.com
Hypermart: They offer 10mbs space and cgi acess to businesses only. They too have pop up ads, which appear and reload every 2 minutes as long as your on one of their pages. Hypermart is a very good choice for a business site. http://www.hypermart.net
Amazing HTML: At Amazing HTML, we decided that it is important for us to offer our own page builder and host. Thanks to Solution Scripts (look under credits), we were able to provide our own, fully functional page host. We give 250-400k space (depending on what you need), we also provide editors and soon will give services such as free counters and so forth. Our rules are rather strict but the idea of our page builder is to allow beginners to have a free place to put their site on. Page Builder.
Of course there are a few 100 other free space providers, we may update this list at a later time to include them, but for now these are the ones we find to be the biggest and for the most part the best. However, nothing beats paying for hosting or finding a friend with a server who is willing to share.
